Good starters
1) John Kuhn, Green Bay Packers. Age: 31 *re-signed with Packers*
- Kuhn is something of a folk hero in Green Bay. He did not make as big an impact this season as he has in the past. Still, given the dearth of fullbacks in this era, he is a nice option as a starter.
2) Le'Ron McClain, San Diego Chargers. Age: 29
- Though he famously rumbled for 10 touchdowns with the Ravens back in 2008, Le'Ron McClain is mostly just a blocker these days. He did do a very good job in that regard with the Chargers last season, albeit in limited snaps. McClain can still open up holes for some team's running game next season.
3) Vonta Leach, Baltimore Ravens. Age: 32
- This is the second time in as many years Vonta Leach has been cut by the Ravens. It could be a permanent move this time around. Leach's performance dipped in 2013, and his role was reduced despite the team's struggles to run the ball. He was once regarded as the best fullback in the league, so it will be interesting if he can regain form, or if it's near the end of the road.
Solid Contributors
1) Greg Jones, Houston Texans. Age: 33
- A quality fullback in the league for many years, Greg Jones can still get it done. His play dipped in Houston, but he could still be an upgrade for most teams.
2) Jed Collins, New Orleans Saints. Age: 28 *signed with Lions*
- The Saints struggled to run the ball this season, and Collins was not as good as his prior work. There is reason enough to feel he will rebound.
Role players
1) Michael Robinson, Seattle Seahawks. Age: 31
- Michael Robinson was released early by the Seahawks, but eventually returned and played pretty well. His star is clearly fading, however. Robinson will likely be on a new team next season, and in a very small role.
2) David Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers. Age: 27
- David Johnson was a reasonably good fullback before spending most of the 2013 season on injured reserve. He could be a decent addition, but nothing to bet the farm on.
Diamond in the Rough
1) Henry Hynoski, New York Giants. Age: 25 (RFA) *re-signed with Giants*
- A forgotten man after logging only 29 snaps this season due to injury. Henry Hynoski was a very good blocker prior to this season. Nicknamed “The Hynoceros” for his brutish downhill style, he can open holes in the running game. Hynoski is a restricted free agent, but should the Giants not tender him he might draw interest.
