E.J. Manuel-
- In case you’re having a bye week issue this is not the guy to go to. Although early in the season he was shaping up as a solid threat with Robert Woods out and Steve Johnson a game time decision they will keep the ball on the ground.
Colin Kaepernick-
- Last week Kaepernick came out there and did not do himself many favors. Although he did not play very well there is a lot to be said for his matchup against a stout and very underrated Carolina defense. This week he is going against Rob Ryan’s defense with The Saints. A year ago this would have been a dream matchup this year I would find another QB if at all possible.
Matt Ryan-
- This game is definitely a toss-up. It really depends on which Tampa Bay comes out there. If they decide to play I would be scared of this matchup against a secondary with Darrelle Revis and Dashon Goldson among others. With the Bucs coming off their victory against the Dolphins I would try and find another QB to play this week.
Matthew Stafford-
- Pittsburgh has been giving up yards and touchdowns all year long and I don’t expect this to be any different. With Stafford throwing the ball 40 times a game I would expect this to be one of the most favorable match ups of the week.
Robert Griffin III-
- This is another matchup that last year would have had fantasy owners licking their lips. After another solid defensive showing (although it was against a 3rd string QB) last week against Green Bay it looks like this will be another tough matchup. Griffin has been playing well as of late but this may be a step backward for him.
Jason Campbell-
- If you have read this column before now you will know I have an ongoing fantasy love affair with Jason Campbell. I fully expect Adam Jones for Cleveland to do his best to shut down Josh Gordon however as Campbell has proved, he has some other targets. Last week he managed to get Greg Little and Davone Bess involved. He also has Jordan Cameron, one of the league’s premier tight ends who has been very underwhelming lately but has a lot of talent.
Andrew Luck-
- Even with a dismal performance last week against St. Louis he still managed to put up solid fantasy numbers. Tennessee has been playing solid football but this game is really on Luck’s shoulders. He has had little protection in the pocket but he also has not been doing himself many favors missing open receivers. Tennessee is right around the league average with 25 sacks. I believe Luck will bounce back this week and have a solid performance. If I have him I’m starting him.
RB’s
LeSean McCoy-
- After returning to form against Green Bay he is poised to have another solid game. It looks like the combination of Foles and McCoy is a solid one. This will surely continue this week against a week Washington Defense.
Andre Brown-
- He had his first start of the regular season this year and lived up to all of the hype. With Peyton Hillis fumbling in the game that set the stage for Andre Brown to go off. Brown touched the ball around 30 times and even though his touches might diminish he will still play a substantial role. Going forward he will be an RB2 with solid potential.
Fred Jackson-
- With Stevie Johnson hurt and Robert Woods out the Bills receiving corps is done for. They will run the ball all day. Fjax gets all the goal line action and should be playing well.
CJ Spiller-
- Going along with Fred Jackson having a big game it looks like Spiller is finally completely healthy he is poised to have a big game as well. There should be more than enough touches to go around.
Brian Leonard/ Bobby Rainey-
- If you have an extra roster spot and these two are floating around I’d pick one of them up. I don’t see either having huge success and they look like they will get about an even split. Look down the line to see if one identifies himself as the go to goal line back.
Knowshon Moreno-
- I have no doubts in Peyton Manning’s ability to hurl the ball even with a bad ankle but Jack Del Rio would be very bold to not try and call a few more run plays this week to try and save Manning from taking a couple extra shots.
Frank Gore-
- With Vernon Davis out, there goes the main pass option for Kaepernicks offense. Expect them to run early and often.
WR’s
Josh Gordon-
- As I mentioned earlier all signs point to Gordon drawing coverage from Adam Jones which could prove for a tough afternoon for Gordon. I would be wary about Gordon regarding this matchup and if you have a better option, start them.
Antonio Brown-
- This may be a breakout week for Brown against that very weak Lions secondary. If you have been flirting with benching Brown this is not the week to do so. Start him and watch him roll.
Cecil Shorts-
- Shorts has been a regular and solid producer this season but facing Patrick Peterson he looks to be completely shut down.
Demaryius Thomas-
- He may be drawing coverage from Flowers will make him a secondary option here. Not to say Manning won’t thread the needle but I would be aware that Thomas is possible of producing a subpar game.
Percy Harvin-
- This is the week. Harvin returns to play against his old team and all signs point to him having a huge game. Go ahead and play him this week as you normally would. Don’t be that person who keeps him on your bench to monitor production this week.
Victor Cruz-
- He will be facing a Packers defense who is playing without Casey Hayward, and a few key linebackers. He should be running up and down the field this week.
TE’s
Coby Fleener-
- Luck certainly looked for him enough but he was unsuccessful in most of his attempts. Once Luck and Fleener get on the same page it could be dangerous. He could be a good bench stash and a solid play if your every week TE is on a bye.
Scott Chandler-
- He has Manuel throwing to him again and most of the Wide Receivers are either out or injured. Chandler provides one of the only solid receiving options on the team and you can expect his targets to go up. He could be a solid threat in the redzone. A good play in PPR leagues.
Tyler Eiffert-
- With Jermaine Gresham out last week Eiffert was poised to have a solid game. This week it appears Gresham will be back so I would drop Eiffert and wouldn’t bother with either.
