Week Nine Fantasy Football Rankings and Tips

By: Andrew De Santis

QB’s
1.     Drew Brees-
  • With Peyton on a bye and the Packers WRs hurting Brees should be putting on a show. He spread out the love last week and even managed to get Kenny Stills involved. Even playing against Cromartie I wouldn’t be too scared.

2.     Aaron Rodgers-
  • Like I just mentioned there are quite a few ailing receivers out in Green Bay but even that hasn’t limited Rodgers’ ability to sling the ball out there.

3.     Cam Newton-
  • After a stellar performance this past week against Tampa Bay Newton is proving himself to be a consistently awe-inspiring quarterback. After seeing Atlanta’s consistently mediocre secondary, there is no way they can shut Newton down.

4.     Phillip Rivers-
  • It’s amazing what a new coach can do to revitalize a QBs career. Even with Brandon Meriweather returning after his game suspension and DeAngelo Hall coming off a solid game against Peyton Manning Rivers should be up for a huge game.

5.     Alex Smith-
  • After playing consistently well all season Smith could have a solid game against a Buffalo defense that got thrashed around last week against New Orleans.

6.     Tony Romo-
  • After seeing how futile the Minnesota defense looked against Aaron Rodgers I have few doubts that Romo can’t do the same even if to a lesser extent. With Murray looking healthy and Bryant coming off a big game look to see Romo roll over the Vikes.

7.     Andrew Luck-
  • Houston’s defense has been slowly slipping throughout the season. Although I have no doubts they can get pressure on Luck I have little faith in their secondary and think Luck can have a big game even without Wayne.

8.     Tom Brady-
  • Even after seeing a dismal display this past week against Miami I still think that Brady can get it done especially against a weak Pittsburgh D.

9.     Jason Campbell-
  • Before you go ahead and shut this page just give this a read. Jason Campbell was awful with the Redskins, and as a backup with Chicago. He did however have a solid partial season with Oakland and had a great game against a stout Kansas City pass defense. He’s got enough weapons out there to be successful and I think that he will have a great game against Balitmore

10.  Russell Wilson-
  • Tampa Bay has the talent to be successful but it looks like they have given up. The past two weeks or so they have stopped playing and they have no reason to start back up again. In addition Percy Harvin could be back as early as this week. Look for Wilson to have a pretty solid game.

The Other Guys:

Case Keenum-
  • He’s had one solid start so far and must have shown something to coach Kubiak in the bye week to convince him that he’s the guy.

Matt Ryan-
  • Without Roddy White out there and Steven Jackson running poorly Ryan is not looking like he is going to consistently produce.

RB’s
1.     Arian Foster-
  • Even with a mild injury that might limit him I expect to see him get very involved from early on. Keenum should be leaning pretty heavily on him and he should get a lot of action around the goal line.

2.     Matt Forte-
  • Similar situation as with Foster. New QB here and you can expect the Bears to rely pretty heavily on him.

3.     Marshawn Lynch-
  • If the Tampa Bay secondary does decide they want to show up to this ball game then you can expect Lynch to get involved early and often.

4.     Eddie Lacy-
  • This guy has proven himself since he returned from this concussion. He’s been running hard and been given plenty of opportunities

5.     LeSean McCoy-
  • A guy who hasn’t broken 100 yards for two straight weeks should be bouncing back this week against Oakland. I wouldn’t be too worried about those two sub par weeks because McCoy can break one off at any time.

6.     Adrian Peterson-
  • Another guy who has been out of sorts the past couple weeks. Although he has been getting in the endzone his yardage has been down. Again he can break off a run at any time.

7.     Alfred Morris-
  • After seeing his scores poached by Helu many owners panicked. This past week should have calmed any of their qualms. Morris looked like the back that tore up the league last season and that should continue.

8.     Zac Stacy-
  • I am still all about this guy. I think he could blossom into a full blown star throughout the next couple weeks.

9.     Trent Richardson-
  • A guy who has had a largely disappointing season may a have a second chance here if the receiving game takes a dip. This is the first time in thirteen seasons the Colts cannot lean on Wayne so we might see the run game get a few more opportunities.

10.  Demarco Murray-
  • I would not be surprised to see Murray back this week. Rumors are circulating that he could have been back this past week. Look for him to not necessarily return to his form before the injury but he could have a pretty solid week.

The Other Guys:

CJ Spiller-
  • Sat out this past week and hopefully will come back healthier for it. He has been very underwhelming all season and if he comes back healthy he could be huge.

Mike James-
  • In the wake of Doug Martin’s injury James stepped up and played a pretty solid game. With Mike Williams out the running game might get some more action here.

Stevan Ridely-
  • This guy has consistently out performed everyone in the Patriot’s backfield but that doesn’t seem to matter to Coach Belichick.

WR’s:
1.     Dez Bryant-
  • Had a great game last week and should continue it this week against a defense that let Jordy Nelson run unchecked.

2.     Vincent Jackson-
  • With Mike Williams now on IR Vincent Jackson will be the primary target in this offense. Look to see his targets increase.

3.     A.J. Green-
  • For such a long time he has been the sole piece of offense for Cincinnati. Now with Marvin Jones drawing some coverage look to see Green have a solid showing for the rest of the year.

4.     Josh Gordon-
  • He’s got Campbell throwing to him, which is a drastic step up from Weeden. He should remain a solid receiving option.

5.     Harry Douglas-
  • I said earlier that I am not in love with Matt Ryan without his main receivers but Douglas has solidified himself as a quality option. He put up some solid yardage last week and a score could have capped him off with a big day.

6.     Torrey Smith-
  • He has been the model of consistency all season typically receiving for between 50-90 yards per game. If he manages to get a score he will be a great receiver for the rest of the season. Keep your eye on him.

7.     Brandon Marshall-
  • Marshall has proven he has the talent to be a top five receiver but the real question is if he can still be effective with whoever is throwing him the ball. There have been a few names tossed out as the potential starting QB and none of them are stellar. Expect whomever is the quarterback for the bears to lean heavily on Marshall and Forte

8.     Jordy Nelson-
  • He and Rodgers proved that they had stellar chemistry on Sunday night. With a depleted receiving corps look for it to be headed up by Nelson for the foreseeable future.

9.     T.Y. Hilton-
  • Without Wayne as a target it is time for Hilton to step up. He has played consistently well for most of the season but now he will be Luck’s first look and that should pay off.

10.  Steve Smith-
  • Looking for him to have some magic against Atlanta. Asante Samuel should get pushed around all day by Smith.

The other guys:

Keenan Allen-
  • Had a couple good games with San Diego and might continue it against Washington.

Percy Harvin-
  • Hopefully should be playing week nine. If he is back he will be a monster, until he gets hurt again.

Marvin Jones-
  • Has had a couple good games this season and just broke out this past week. If he’s a free agent make some room for him on your roster.

Andrew Hawkins-
  • Another Bengal who has the opportunity to have a big season. Activated off IR he’s been practicing since Wednesday and can come back and be a contributor in a game or two.

DeAndre Hopkins-
  • With a new quarterback he can become a new favorite receiver. Pick this guy up in the hopes he can be more effective under Keenum.

TE’s
1.     Jimmy Graham-
  • This guy had been ailing all last week and still came out and played like an MVP. It doesn’t matter where Graham gets ranked because if you have him, he starts.

2.     Rob Gronkowski-
  • After a rough second game against Miami we can expect to see him have a big game against Pittsburgh.

3.     Jordan Cameron-
  • Looks like he has an actual QB throwing to him again so we can expect to see his production return to where it was under Hoyer.

4.     Jordan Reed-
  • Having back to back solid showings makes him look like he’s here to stay.

5.     Martellus Bennett-
  • With a new QB throwing here it remains a mystery to see who his favorite target will be. Look to see if he loves or hates Bennett.

6.     Kyle Rudolph-
  • Until now his production had been solely tied up in scores. He was a big factor against Green Bay. I like that to continue.

7.     Tim Wright-
  • The rookie TE from Tampa Bay has drawn 12 targets in the past two games. Looks like Glennon has found a favorite target. Expect his production to increase throughout the season.

8.     Charles Clay-
  • He had a less than stellar showing against New England but he should bounce back to production against Cincinnati.

9.     Tony Gonzalez-
  • So much raw talent with this guy there’s no way to make a top ten without including him. He has the opportunity to have a big game at any week.

10.  Greg Olsen-
  • Had a really strong showing on Thursday night against Tampa bay. He can keep it up against Atlanta this week.

The Other Guys:

Antonio Gaites-
  • Washington should have their hands full with Allen and Royal so look for Gaites to get a few looks especially in the redzone.

Buy Buy Buy

Tim Wright-
  • Whether you’re just holding on to this guy for a bye week or if you’re hoping he can be a star definitely pick him up with he’s available.

DeAndre Hopkins-
  • Another guy who is a FA in a lot of leagues who you can pick up and could definitely produce with this change of QB.

T.Y. Hilton-
  • The new number 1 out there in Indy who has been playing well for the past two seasons will either break out here fade away.

LeSean McCoy-
  • If you can try to take advantage of some of those owners who are panicking. This guy is still at top 3 back in the league and will surly bounce back.

Marvin Jones-
  • He could be a homerun if he continues to produce.

Jason Campbell-
  • In case you can’t tell I am all about this guy. Pick him up if you’re having a bye week issue, or need a backup who could turn to be solid.

Jordan Reed-
  • If he’s still available in any of your leagues go pick him up right now. He’s here to stay.

Sell Sell Sell

Tom Brady-
  • Between having a swollen hand and just not playing very well Brady is far from the elite QB he once was.

Peyton Hillis/Brandon Jacobs-
  • Giants are heading on a bye this week and by the time they get back Andre Brown should be playing and will hopefully give some life to that dead backfield.

Eagles Quarterbacks-
  • Called this one last week that Vick would have an awful game but just don’t even bother with Eagles QBs for the rest of the season. Even with a healthy QB the receiving corps isn’t going to make them look good.

Marques Colston-
  • Brees spread the love around all of last week and still didn’t manage to find Colston. While he’s getting targets he’s not getting yardage or scores. Take what you get for him.

Pierre Garcon-
  • This guy used to be a huge deep threat and now he’s just not a threat. Take what you can get for him especially with Griffin nursing a knee injury.
