2. Denver Broncos (2-0)
1. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
- The Jags are clearly, and undeniably the worst team in the league right now. There offense was once again a sad, pathetic mess in their game against the Raiders, and frankly, the game was never really competitive. As a reward, the Jaguars get to travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks. Yikes.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2)
- The Bucs have had two close losses, and their defense has shown a lot of potential. However, this offense is falling apart and the team unity is dissolving. Reports are out that Darrelle Revis is unhappy with Greg Schiano’s militaristic style of coaching, and the defensive schemes. At least Revis should be comfortable in the circus type atmosphere coming over from the Jets.
30. Cleveland Browns (0-2)
- I really thought that the Browns would show promise this year under the new coaching staff, but they have been miserable thus far. If the play of the offensive line does not improve, the whole offense will continue to be a train wreck.
- Geno Smith has a solid set of skills, but man it is just really apparent that he is not ready to lead this team. Of course, that does not mean I advocate Sanchez coming back later in the year; he needs to be done as a Jet.
28. Minnesota Vikings (0-2)
- Minnesota has some talent, but it really looks like they just are not going to be good enough to keep up with the better teams in the NFC.
27. Oakland Raiders (1-1)
- The Raiders are much improved under Terrelle Pyror, but I am almost more surprised by how much better their defense has been playing. If you just look at the guys on their depth chart, it is amazing that they are getting solid play out of those guys.
26. Carolina Panthers (0-2)
- Once again the Panthers are off to a slow start. Like with most of the teams near the bottom of this list, there are solid pieces on this team, but the sum of the parts is just not good enough.
25. Buffalo Bills (1-1)
- Buffalo finally has something to be excited about. E.J. Manuel comfortably led his team down the field to win. Buffalo won’t win too many games, but it looks like they have some things to build on.
24. Washington Redskins (0-2)
- A huge drop for the Redskins, and they have earned it. Their offense is the type of unit that needs to play to a script, and with their defense giving up points in bunches, they have not been able to keep to that. The big leads are causing their running, and play action game to be rendered useless.
23. Tennessee Titans (1-1)
- The Titans defense is much improved, but does anyone believe that Jerry Gray is still running the show? Gregg Williams clearly has his fingerprints all over this aggressive defense.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2)
- The Steelers offense is in a total tailspin. However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. Heath Miller could be back soon and rookie Le’Veon Bell could be ready to play as well. Those two players could inject some life into this offense.
21. Detroit Lions (1-1)
- The Lions lost a game they really should have won, but I feel like that is how this team will play all year. I see this team as incomplete and finishing around the .500 mark.
20. Arizona Cardinals (1-1)
- Everything I said about the Lions, I basically feel about the Cardinals. There is talent here, but there are enough holes on this team to keep them around 8-8.
19. New York Giants (0-2)
- Eli Manning has always had a bit of a turnover problem, but seven interceptions in two weeks is simply unacceptable. With their poor defense and lack of a running game, they need Manning at his best, and they are getting him at his worst.
18. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)
- The Eagles continue to rise, even though they lost on Sunday. Their defense showed their true colors, and despite their offense looking great, that defensive unit is going to lose them a few shootouts along the way.
17. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
- Small drop for the Cowboys, and I have a feeling they will stick around this territory all season. The Cowboys are an inconsistent football team. Their offense has no running game to speak up, and is way too reliant on Tony Romo and his great weapons. As we saw on Sunday, even when they are at their best, they wont always win.
16. San Diego Chargers (1-1)
- The Chargers took a big leap for me. I had them as one of the worst teams in football, and clearly they are better than that. I doubt they seriously contend for a playoff spot, but they seem to be much better than I believed they could be.
15. Indianapolis Colts (1-1)
- The Colts are way too reliant on Andrew Luck to save them at the end of the game, and that task is just going to get harder. The Colts have lost starting guard, Donald Thomas, and tight end Dwayne Allen for the season.
14. St. Louis Rams (1-1)
- Does it feel like I have the Rams too high to anyone else? Well I think they showed a lot in coming back against Falcons. They did not get the win, but there is enough talent on this team to go 9-7.
13. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)
- The Chiefs are doing a great job of playing good defense and limiting the mistake on offense. Will they be able to keep up their success when a team gets them in a hole early? I have my doubts.
12. Miami Dolphins (2-0)
- The Dolphins have won their first two games, and more importantly they were both on the road. This team is in a very good position to have a really good season, and could even challenge the Patriots for the AFC East title.
11. Atlanta Falcons (1-1)
- I pretty much kept the Falcons right where they are. They had a really impressive outing on Sunday, but most of that success was just based on two players. They have also lost two important defenders, Kroy Bierrman for the season, and Sean Weatherspoon for at least eight weeks.
10. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
- I dropped the Ravens even though they won. A few things, it was just the Browns, and they really just have not looked very impressive so far. They really need to get their running game on track, or this offense will continue to sputter.
9. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
- The Bengals also stay in the same spot, because their victory over the Steelers was unimpressive. Andy Dalton especially was unimpressive with a number of high throws. It remains to be seen if he can lead them to where they want to go.
8. Houston Texans (2-0)
- The Texans staved off yet another upset in week two, but on the plus side, their offense looks really good. Their defense needs to pick things up, especially In the secondary.
7. New England Patriots (2-0)
- Everyone knows the Patriots problems are at wide receiver, and communication issues on offense. However, they should have another cakewalk victory on Sunday against the Buccaneers. Man they schedule makers were kind to this struggling Patriots team.
6. New Orleans Saints (2-0)
- It was honestly impressive to see the Saints win a close game even when Drew Brees had two uncharacteristic interceptions. Their defense is still playing well and they could be on their way to being a complete team.
5. Chicago Bears (2-0)
- I have been really impressed with the Bears. Jay Cutler and the offensive line look much better, and Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte are fitting right into this offense. I expect the Bears to be a playoff team.
4. Green Bay Packers (1-1)
- Who would have thought that after so many games without a 100-yard rusher it was going to be long time roster fodder, James Starks, that would break it this year? Starks is a decent runner, but he is not very good. Here’s to hoping Eddie Lacy comes back soon.
3. San Francisco 49ers (1-1)
- The 49ers have to drop a spot after their horrendous performance in Seattle. Yes, it is tough to play the Seahawks at home, but there is no excuse for Colin Kaepernick to play that poorly, and for this team to get so physically overmatched.
2. Denver Broncos (2-0)
- The Broncos are pretty much doing whatever they want right now. They keep games pretty close in the first half, because their defense is playing very well, but then in the second half, Payton Manning figures you out and just completely destroys you.
1. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
- The Seahawks are the best team in football right now, and they have not even got their offense firing on all cylinders. Russell Wilson is making key plays in the clutch, but if he and this offense can be more explosive, watch out.
