Defense’s:
This week I wanted to change it up and talk about defenses.
New Orleans-
Carolina Panthers-
Cleveland Browns-
Arizona Cardinals-
Mike Glennon-
- The Detroit defense has been playing pretty well as of late but Glennon should be able to put up some good numbers against them. If you’re looking for a bye week guy or are in a two QB league he could be solid.
Phillip Rivers-
- He has been a top ten quarterback all season but I would not play him against Kansas City. Their defense managed to limit Peyton manning to only 27 points and Rivers is no Manning. If you have a backup option then go with him this week.
Andrew Luck-
- It looks like his pass game has been shaky in the past couple weeks. He has come on late in most games but with one of the strongest secondaries in the league it looks like Luck could get shut down this week.
Eli Manning-
- Manning has been mediocre at best all season but he is a real champion. The giants need this win to stay in the playoff hunt and you can expect Manning to put this game on his shoulders. Expect a solid performance from him this week.
Ben Roethlisberger-
- In a tough divisional match up look for Big Ben to play hard this week. He found chemistry with Antonio Brown last week and all signs point to that continuing.
Cam Newton-
- I can’t see a scenario playing out where Miami’s defense manages to limit Newton this Sunday. Expect to see him successfully hurl the ball out there as long as make some plays with his feet.
WR’s:
Andre Johnson-
- Jacksonville’s defense has been playing pretty soft for most of the season but the QB situation in Huston is so shaky I have little confidence in Johnson’s ability to produce. Of course you will start him if you have him but I would be weary.
Kenan Allen-
- Expect to see heavy coverage on Allen all day. This could open up the game a little bit for Eddie Royal and the other Chargers receivers but I would try and find a better match up.
Alshon Jeffery-
- St. Louis defense has been beginning to play up to their potential. Brandon Marshall will be the primary concern but I expect that St. Louis will be able to shut down Jeffery as well.
Mike Wallace-
- Wallace is a great deep threat but unfortunately for him Tannehill isn’t given the time to hit Wallace deep. He looks to be essentially useless moving forward.
Denarius Moore-
- He will be nursing a shoulder injury all week but even if he is healthy he is a questionable start at WR. Moore has not looked great so far and in his first showing seemed to have a tough time finding a rhythm with Moore.
Pierre Garcon-
- When RGIII is on this is one of the best tandems in all of football. Griffin has been using Garcon regularly in the past couple games. If it weren’t for a couple over thrown balls against the eagles this past week Garcon would have had a monster game.
Dwayne Bowe-
- This past week was nothing more than a fluke. Bowe is a talented receiver but he has been shut down all season and teams will continue to do so in the future.
RB’s:
Darren Sproles-
- He has had a largely disappointing season so far. He is injured and looks like a game time decision for Thursday night’s game against the saints. If he does play I would be surprised to see him play a serious role.
C.J. Spiller-
- Any sensible owner at this point is looking to dump him. If you can get him for cheap then do it. He has a bye week to sit out and hopefully get healthy. He could be solid for a playoff push.
Le’Veon Bell-
- Last week he rushed 18 times for 36 yards. For you math nerds out there that’s 2 yards per carry. Not very good at all. He did redeem himself by catching 4 passes for 52 yards. With the Steelers terrible O-line Bell is having a tough time. If you play him just know in order for him to have a big game he will need lots of action in the red zone.
Andre Brown-
- He is running really well. If it wasn’t from Brandon Jacobs rising from the dead to vulture a score last week Brown would have had a very solid week. Keep playing him as long as you can.
Bobby Rainey-
- If he is still floating around out there go ahead and scoop him up. It looks like he will be the go to guy for Tampa’s run game.
Danny Woodhead-
- With San Diego playing against that tough Kansas City pass defense they will run the ball a lot. There should be more than enough touches for Woodhead and Ryan Matthews to both get their fill.
Zac Stacy-
- Stacy had been playing with a nagging injury the past couple weeks but he had a great chance to rest up this bye week. Although he is still listed as probable and his injury never really seemed to hamper him he looks like he will return to form.
Reggie Bush-
- He’s been having some fumble problems this year and has just vowed to never put the ball on the ground again this season. I would still start him but I would not be surprised if there was a little bit closer to even split of snaps between bush and Joique Bell.
Defense’s:
This week I wanted to change it up and talk about defenses.
New Orleans-
- Their defense has been very formidable since Rob Ryan took over. This week they are playing a hurting Atlanta Falcons team. These Falcons have very little of a run game and a limited passing game as well.
Carolina Panthers-
- If they are bouncing around as a free agent defense for some reason go ahead and scoop them up. Expect big numbers for sacks and turnovers against a decimated Dolphins O-line.
Cleveland Browns-
- Another solid bye week defense. They are playing a weak Steelers line and have the ability to completely take Antonio Brown out of the game. If they can get pressure on Big Ben look for them to have a good performance.
Arizona Cardinals-
- Once they take T.Y. Hilton out of game the offense will fall apart. Colts have proven their inability to consistently run the ball and they have very few threats in the pass game.
